Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

Greenshank

A cool and overcast start to the day. Greenshank on Woodend Marsh early on was new for the year. Common Sandpiper still present there. Also 54 Avocet, 26 Ruff, 40+ Black-tailed Godwit, 10+ Redshank, 2 Ringed Plover, Lapwings and a few Oystercatcher.

Raptors included female Marsh Harrier (new in), 8+ Common Buzzard, 2+ Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. Barn Owl and Tawny Owl.

Three Med Gull on the Mere again.

Off the reserve the first local Yellow Wagtail on Curlew Lane, Corn Bunting there too.

Late news from thursday of a male Common Redstart on the Reedbed Walk.

Currently it would be possible to top 80 species of birds on and by the reserve.
