Our otters will be off show 7th-13th July whilst we complete essential works on their habitat. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Harriers

The male Hen Harrier was seen briefly in the afternoon battling into the wind before being lost to view, also at least 2 Marsh Harriers were on show most of the day. The usual 4+ Common Buzzard and Sparrowhawk were seen.

A few more waders turning up in the mild weather included 5 Oystercatcher, a Dunlin and 4 Black tailed Godwit. Several Common Snipe were also seen and the usual 80+ Ruff and 1500+ Lapwing.

The male Stonechat is still on view from Ron Barker hide and upto 26 Cormorant were around the Mere. No reports of the Bewick's Swan or Peregrines today but still 1000+ Whooper Swan and good numbers of Pintail, Teal and Wigeon among other duck.
