Hen Harrier plus

Another good raptor day with the first Hen Harrier (a ringtail) of the autumn, 2+ Marsh Harrier, female Peregrine, 4 Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel. Two Raven again.

Another great goose spectacle too with 10,000+ Pink-footed Geese on the reserve and showing very well on the Mere. No counts of Whooper Swans but over 200 birds now present. A single Barnacle Goose with the Pink's, most likely a wild bird as small numbers of Svalbard Barnacle Geese have arrived in the area.

Waders included 45+ Ruff, 400+ Lapwing, Dunlin and Common Snipes.

A late tern sp. was seen briefly, probably Common. Kingfisher from the Ron Barker Hide, Tawny Owl near the Kingfisher Hide and Little Egret from the Harrier Hide.
