Latest Sightings

The Pink-Footed Geese are still present in considerable numbers, now counted at 3200 and can be seen throughout the day, flying into the pools at Ron Barker or Plover field next to the Rees hide.

Today, a Russian White-Fronted Goose was on the Mere. It flew in and was seen from the Discovery hide, at the back amongst the Greylag Geese.

The number of Cattle Egrets is still increasing, with 32 seen today, amongst and on top of the cows.

You can experience great views of the geese during our Dawn Flight events on the 6th, 12th and 25th of October.

Over the weekend, we have had a variety of species spotted from the Discovery hide, including 3 Common Shelduck, 2 Lesser Black-Backed Gulls, 15 Cormorants, 1 Buzzard, 2 Mute Swans, 16 Teal, 6 Wigeon, 19 Gadwall, and 9 Shovelers.

Observed at Ron Barker hide, there were 3 Blackcap, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Hobby, 1 Bittern, 2 Green Sandpipers and 1 Barn Owl.

A Kestrel, 1 Reed Warbler, 2 Snipe and 3 Marsh Harrier were seen from Rees Hide.

Today, on the Mere, we have also sighted 1 Grey Heron, 3 Snipe and 1 Buzzard, among the regularly seen Lapwings, Moorhen and Coot.
