Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

The wetland birds are really enjoying this rainy weather!

Over the weekend, a total of 9 Whooper Swans were spotted on the Mere, marking their winter migration from Iceland.

In the upcoming weeks, you can expect to see more Whooper Swans arriving, joining the thousands of Pink-Footed Geese already present.

Also seen on the Mere;

6 Wigeon, 13 Cormorants, 2 Pintail, 1 Gadwall, 1 Buzzard, 5 Marsh Harrier, 1 Lesser Black-Backed Gull, 23 Cattle Egret, 5 Shoveler, 1 Hobby and 2 Shelduck.

2 Kingfisher, a male and female, were observed from Ron Barker Hide - as well as 1 Barn Owl, 3 Kestrel, 1 Grey Heron and 1 male Hen Harrier.

20 Teal were seen from Rees Hide and 1 Snipe was sighted from Hale Hide.

Bitterns have been displaying well, with 2 at Ron Barker hide and 1 at Tomlinson hide, along with 1 Great White Egret.
