Latest Sightings

Our aquatic bird species here at Martin Mere have been productive this week as the main mere's water level has remained raised.
3 Little Grebes, 2 Gadwall, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 19 Cattle Egret, 7 Tufted Ducks, 1 Grey Heron, 5+ Shelducks and 2 Cormorants have been sighted on the main mere recently. Other species sighted on the main mere include 4 Marsh Harriers and 15+ Swallows.
From Harrier hide, 2+ Pochard, 50+ Lapwings, 2 Lesser Black-Backed Gulls, 1 Herring Gull, 1 Ruff and 1 Little Egret were observed today.
4 Green Sandpipers, 2 Common Sandpipers and 2 Pied Wagtail juveniles were spotted from Gordon Taylor hide.
1 Kingfisher male was seen from the Ron Barker hide on Tuesday. Another individual was sighted flying near the start of the path to Tomlinson hide today.
Along the reedbed walk today, 1 Blackcap and 2+ Reed Warblers were observed.
