We've had the exciting return of 3 Sand Martins here at Martin Mere over at Ron Barker Hide. Sand Martins will fly 4,000km to the UK from sub-Saharan Africa for breeding during the summer so it is a true sign that spring has begun! We've had 4 Russian White-Fronted Geese over the weekend, which were also seen from Ron Barker, along with the Glossy Ibis still showing well among 40 Cattle Egrets

There have been lots of Barn Owls around the site continuously, with 1 at Ron Barker Hide and 3 seen from United Utilities Hide. Another 5 Russian White-Fronted Geese were spotted from United Utilities Hide on Sunday. 18 Ruff, 16 Avocets and 1 Great White Egret were seen from this hide too.

On the Mere, the Ring-necked Duck continues to show well in front of Discovery Hide. A female Sparrowhawk was also seen flying around on the hunt on Monday. A further 54 Cormorants, 1 Great Black-backed Gull and 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls can be regularly viewed from Discovery Hide.
