As winter draws to a close, the Whooper Swans are starting to make their journey back to Iceland. Though we have finished our talks for the winter now, the swans are still viewable in front of Discovery Hide. The Ringed-necked Duck is still showing well in front of Discovery Hide too. We've had a large gathering of Black-tailed Godwits on the mere as they too prepare for their journey to Iceland.

Over at Woodend Marsh, there have been 38 Avocets, 12 Ruff, 2 Redshank and 3 Dunlin sighted from Rees Hide. Around Janet Kear Hide, Chiffchaff can be heard singing. And at Harrier Hide there have been 3 Little Grebe spotted. The Glossy Ibis can still be regularly viewed among Cattle Egrets at Ron Barker Hide. This is also where Barn Owls can often be seen hunting in the fields.
