There have been plenty of exciting birds this week! Great White Egrets and Cattle Egrets have been out in large number, with 4 Great White Egrets spotted from Ron Barker Hide this morning. Also from Ron Barker Hide, one Little Ringed Plover, one Green Sandpiper and two Spoonbill were seen on Thursday. We also had a visit from a Wood Sandpiper in the field to the right as you look out from Ron Barker

The Mere has become much quieter as all the juvenile Black-headed Gulls have fledged and likely moved back to the coast now. Oystercatchers can still be seen from Discovery Hide along with Common Tern, Shovelers and House Martins. From Harrier Hide, the Great-crested Grebes continue to show well with 3 juveniles. They often share the Reedbed Lagoon with Little Egrets, Cormorants and Pochard. One of this years juvenile Bittern was spotted on Monday from United Utilities Hide flying over to Ron Barker Hide.
