Latest Sightings

The weather has took a turn over the weekend but there are still some good sightings around the reserve. On the Mere, 20+ Swallows have been seen flying along the water's surface collecting insects. Also on the Mere there have been 2 Gadwall, 6 Redshank and 4 Common Terns spotted on Saturday. Over at Harrier Hide, the family of Great Crested Grebes continues to show well, 3 Juveniles can be seen with 2 parents. Families of Tufted Ducks can also be seen, look out for ducklings diving in and out of the water as they practice their skills.

From United Utilities Hide on Saturday, 5 Common Terns, 4 Spoonbills, 15 Cattle Egrets and 1 Marsh Harrier were sighted flying over and in the fields on the reserve. Recent highlights from Ron Barker Hide include 11 Grey Herons, 1 Green Sandpiper, 3 Great White Egrets and 5 Ruff.
