Little Egret
A Little Egret seen from Harrier Hide in the morning was the best sighting of the day, otherwise an immature male Marsh Harrier has joined the female that has been around on and off for a while now. Other raptors included Peregrine which yet again decided to snack on Avocet chicks. Several Common Buzzard and a Kestrel were the other raptors seen today.
A Raven was seen flying over the reserve and 2 Red-legged Partridge were again in the grass from Ron Barker hide. The pair of Common Tern were again on the Mere most of the day as well at least 1 Mediterranean Gull (1st sum).
A group of 4 Teal (3m, 1f) on the Mere today was a good number this time of year. Two Ruff and 23 Black-tailed Godwit were seen from Ron Barker hide. A Pink-footed Goose was around the Mere today with a drooping wing, one of the birds that will remain with us during the summer months.
