Mega!

A proper blow today, strong Westerlies with the occasional squally showers. An adult Gannet flew South West over the reserve c.10:40. A mega for your 'Martin Mere List' as this is only the third record for the reserve in over 30 years.

Two more new addition to the year list also dropped with Little Stint and Turnstone making there first appearances. Unlike the Gannet these species are virtually annual. Other wader counts included 20 Dunlin, 3 Whimbrel, 6 Curlew, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, Little Ringed Plover, 10 Ringed Plover and 51 Avocet.

Raptors included the immature pale-headed Peregrine, 3+ Common Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.

Four Wheatear, Little Egret and Raven.
