Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

Another very pleasant day on the reserve, mild with light winds. Ideal conditions for viewing raptors with sightings so far today including 4 Marsh Harrier, 5+ Common Buzzard, 3 Sparrowhawk, Peregrine and Kestrel.

Plenty of Pink-footed Geese roosting on the reserve (16,000 in a recent count) with good numbers coming in early afternoon. Worth noting that a Todd's (interior) Canada Goose has been reported with Pink's on the Fylde today so keep your eye peeled when scanning the geese. At least 800 Whooper Swan also around the reserve.

Two Green Sandpiper were new in feeding with 14 Common Snipe from the Ron Barker Hide. At least 30 Ruff and a single Dunlin present and 600+ Lapwing.
