Hide closure: Sunday 9 November

No access to Ron Barker, Hale and Mere View Hides
Unfortunately, we have had a recent case of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, in our collection birds. To prevent further spread of the disease, we are putting in place some additional protection measures, which includes testing the birds in our duckery. To allow our teams the time and space to do this, we’ve temporarily closed this part of the wetland reserve and will reopen on Monday 10 November.

More waders

Breezy, which didn't make for showy birds today. Many species keep there heads down in these conditions. Any hopes for a Little Gull arriving in from the coast were dashed, maybe tomorrow.

Green-winged Teal was present as usual from the Ron Barker Hide.

Lapwing count was over 600, 70+ Ruff, 9 Oystercatcher, 10+ Black-tailed Godwit and 2 Ringed Plover.

Twenty nine Cormorant around the Mere this morning.

Raptors included 3 Common Buzzard, Peregrine and Sparrowhawk.

Brambling around the JK Hide.
