Thursday 11 and Friday 12 December

Some of our birds will be off display on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 December, while vets carry out some routine health checks. If you would still like to visit us on these days, admission tickets will only be available on arrival and will be reduced to £10 an adult and £5 a child.

More Whoopers

Highest count of the autumn of Whooper Swan with 1500 birds, also 7500 Pink-footed Geese roosting. At least 1500 Teal and 500 Wigeon.

Three Peregrine, Marsh Harrier, 2+ Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel. Merlin present in the area, seen on the 14th.

A few Goldcrest along the Nature Trail. This time last year we had a Firecrest on the reserve so keep your eyes open.

Waders included 800+ Lapwing and 40+ Ruff.

A few Herring Gull dropping in today, joining the regular Great Black-backed Gull and Lesser Black-backed Gulls.

A couple of Rooks passing over the reserve was noteworthy.
