Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

Pink-feet

Another excellent early morning count of 27,000+ Pink-footed Geese and 140+ Whooper Swan. A single male Pochard was on the Mere as the water is now reaching it's winter levels. Sixty eight Coot and 16 Shelduck on the Mere. A single Barnacle Goose with 5000+ Pink's late afternoon.

Worth noting that you can now catch the Swan feeds starting at 10:30am from the Swan Link Hide and 11am from the Raines Hide.

Adult and juvenile Peregrine looking slightly damp on fence post at the back of the Mere. Not so dispirited as to stop them dive bombing a hapless Common Buzzard that drifted past them. Present today Merlin, 4 Peregrine (adult pair + juv male & juv female), Marsh Harrier and Sparrowhawk.

Limited number of wader species now the bulk of southward migration has finished for them. Birds present include 500+ Lapwing, 57 Ruff, 10+ Common Snipe.
