Pink-footed Geese..

We always like to talk up the onset of autumn in the world of birding, dreaming of all that migration to come. It's probably far too early to claim that the 5 Pink-footed Geese that dropped in on the Mere this morning are genuinely wild birds, even if they looked in tip top condition.

The first adult Peregrine seen for sometime too. It managed to grab a bird sp. and pluck it in vegetation at the back of the Mere. The usual 4+ Common Buzzard and 2+ Kestrel were also seen.

Wader species present included Avocet, Oystercatcher, Lapwing, Ruff, Ringed Plover, Little Ringed Plover, Green Sandpiper, Common Sandpiper, and Common Snipe.

At least 6 Grey Heron on the reserve and Little Egret.
