Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

Siberian Chiffchaff and other birds

The Siberian Chiffchaff is still present this mid afternoon feeding low along the pool side of the hedgerow parallel to the sewage works accessed from the Reedbed Walk. At least 3 Chiffchaff there singing occasionally.  Two Grey Wagtail also close by with many Pied.

Still 1100 Whooper Swan and 2600 Pink-footed Geese present.

Waders include 60+ Avocet, 60+ Ruff, 500 Lapwing, 60+ Oystercatcher, 12 Black-tailed Godwit, 10+ Common Snipe, 3 Ringed Plover.

Sixty Corn Bunting on Marsh Moss Lane.

Merlin mid afternoon. At least 6 Common Buzzard.

Adult Mediterranean Gull on the Mere late afternoon.

Yesterday a very smart looking breeding plumage Black-head x Med Gull hybrid was present late afternoon. The bird has a black hood similar in shape to Black-headed Gull and large white tipped black primaries.
