Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

Spoonbill

An early update - Spoonbill flew over the Mere at 10:20 and carried on NW towards the Ribble. Virtually annual on the reserve in recent years, they are now established breeders on the North Norfolk coast.  This bird brings our substantial year list onto 164 species.

Two Peregrine hunting, 3 Marsh Harrier, Merlin, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and 5 Common Buzzard.

Four thousand five hundred Pink-footed Geese in the early morning count. Two adult Common Shelduck were new in, perhaps from fresh from moulting on the Wadden Sea. At least 6 Shoveler and 20 Gadwall.

Waders included 500+ Lapwing, 8 Ruff and a probable Dunlin.
