Three Bewick's Swan

Three Bewick's Swan

Chilly today with a North Westerly airflow. There seems to be a few more Pink-footed  Geese around as birds start returning from the Norfolk wintering grounds. Only a matter of time before something rarer is found with them.

Three adult Bewick's Swan on the Mere this morning at least.

The drake Green-winged Teal again from the Ron Barker Hide.

A good raptor day with a male Hen Harrier being the pick of the bunch. Three Peregrine, 3+ Common Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.

A Short-eared Owl seen towards the vegetation mounds is new for the year. Barn Owl early and late

Lapwing numbers have increased to c500, 77 Ruff, 2 Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher and 20 Black-tailed Godwit.

Woodcock again from the Janet Kear Hide, also Treecreeper and Brambling there.
