Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

Waders

A far more sensible day with the winds dropping back, making the sun seem warm.

Impressive numbers of Lapwing present with over 3000 birds. A Woodcock was reported flying over the car park. A few Common Snipe showed well from the Gladstone Hide. At least 60 Ruff, 8 Oystercatcher, 4 Dunlin and 3 Black-tailed Godwit to be seen. Surprisingly no Redshank or Ringed Plover yet.

Merlin again on fence post out on the reserve fields and later seen in pursuit of a snipe. Also 4+ Common Buzzard and Marsh Harrier today.

Still 1000+ Whooper Swan. The Whooper numbers will stay high until the end of February.

A limping dog Fox caused some commotion as it passed along the back of the Mere yesterday.
