Whooper Swans

A wild and windy day with few reports, a female Stonechat was seen distantly out in the fields. The usual 3 Peregrine were about but seen mostly in flight today along with 2-3 Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk.

c1000 Whooper Swan including a rare yellow legged individual are being fed daily and there are a few thousand Pink footed Geese in the area.  A large Lapwing flock of c1500 birds along with c80 Ruff and small numbers of Snipe can be found, also a single Black tailed Godwit. No reports of the Woodcock for a while but probably is still around.

Good numbers of Teal, Pintail and large numbers of Wigeon and Mallard are using the site along with smaller numbers of Pochard, Tufted Duck, Shoveler and Gadwall. There is always the chance the Baikal Teal at Marshside could put in an appearance at some point.
