We've won a VisitEngland Gold Accolade for 2025!
We're delighted to announce we've won the highest quality award available to visitor attractions in England.
We achieved the Gold Accolade following an outstanding score of 93% in the 2025 VisitEngland Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme assessment.
Accolades have been awarded to 78 English attractions, covering all aspects of what makes an excellent visitor experience. The five categories include: ‘Welcome’; ‘Best Told Story’; ‘Hidden Gem’; ‘Quality Food and Drink’ and ‘Gold’ for overall excellence.
Centre Manager, Gary Haseley-Nejrup said:
We are delighted and proud to have been awarded the VisitEngland Gold Accolade once again. It’s a testament to our passionate and hard-working team, who continually strive to create a unique and memorable experience in our wetlands, for every visitor. And we look forward to maintaining these high standards as we approach our 80th anniversary in 2026!
Nominations for the accolade are based on a range of feedback, including VisitEngland’s quality assessments, assessor observations, direct customer feedback, and online reviews.
VisitEngland’s Accolades celebrate excellence within the visitor attraction sector, recognising businesses that go the extra mile to provide a high-quality day out, whether through a warm welcome, engaging storytelling, an exceptional restaurant or an outstanding overall experience.
VisitEngland praised WWT Slimbridge’s staff and volunteers for being extremely engaging, and commended our accessibility, presentation, and ability to combine education about the natural world with fun and entertainment for all ages.
