Itinerary for ages 3-7 and 7-11
Using a variety of equipment join us in completing a bioblitz around the Pond Zone and Estuary Garden nearby. Get hands on with dental mirrors, magnifying glasses, id guides, quadrats and much more to discover what lives in the layers of a wetland. Part of the session will involve dipping with nets in our raised ponds to discover the life living beneath the surface of the water. To finish we will use different features to group and record our finds.
Please meet at the Pond Zone 5 minutes before the start time of your session.
Itinerary for age 12+
Take part in investigating wetland habitats using random and transect sampling methods. Throughout the session we will think about how abiotic factors and biotic features impact the distribution of your study species and define the plant's ecological niche. Scientific vocabulary such as distribution, frequency and abundance will be included along with thinking about how the data collected can be used in analysing wetlands.
Please meet by the Rain Garden 5 minutes before the start time of your session.
Whilst exploring before or after your session, join in with our daily what's on suite of talks and activities, visit our Waterscapes Aviary to experience up close the magic of native wetlands or follow the summer walkway out to discover the wildlife on the banks of the River Severn. The WWT online Learning Zone offers other resources which may be of interest including various resource packs and activities.
