Wetland Explorer Day: Birds & Conservation
Come and find out how amazing a trip to Slimbridge can be by joining us on this Uniform Group Wetland Explorer Day.
Date: Saturday March 7th & Sunday March 8th 2026
Time: 9:30am to 4:00pm
Beavers, Badgers, Cubs and Brownies, can take part in a choice of fun and creative outdoor activities which will help your children work towards a range of badges including Beavers Explore and Global issues activity badges, St John Badgers Eco Badger badge, Cubs Naturalist badge and the Brownies Birdwatching and Animal Helper interest badges.
During the morning you could either:
- Learn fun facts about birds, their adaptations and gain techniques to use for working out which species is which
or
- Find out about the local, national and international conservation projects WWT are involved in. Discover the species we work hard to protect against the many threats they face.
Then in the afternoon, either:
- Join us for a birdwatching session as we visit some of our different hides to spot native and migratory birds around the centre
or
- Take part in a conservation-themed scavenger hunt to discover the flagship species who call wetlands home
You’ll also have plenty of time to explore the grounds and centre alongside our other visitors, including a host of new and exciting exhibits. There’s so much to do you may have trouble packing it into one visit! You could visit the Arctic tundra and Hawaii, learn about our otter Tilly at her feed, meet our wonderful amphibians, take part in an eco-audit of Slimbridge or play in our adventure playground.
Each day is charged at £10 per child, with adults free at a ratio of 1:5. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept WWT membership cards on learning visits.
Minimum group size of 10.
