Catch the Tide

We were rewarded with a really good tide this morning, the surge came over and flooded the Dumbles, the birding was brilliant in the winter sunshine. Another chance tomorrow.

Estuary Tower

25+ Skylark, 3+ Meadow Pipit, 2 Goldfinch, Redwing, juvenile Dark-bellied Brent Goose, 170+ Barnacle Geese, 200+ Canada Geese, Peregrine Falcon, 5 Cranes, flocks of Wigeon, Teal and Pintail, Ross's Goose and Lesser White-fronted Goose.

A Merlin was seen with Marsh Harrier to the North and a Red Kite over NW. The Little Stint was picked out among the Dunlin. 1000+ Golden Plover, 500+ Lapwing and 800+ Dunlin fed on the Dumbles. Three Ringed Plover and 12 Great Black-backed Gulls also over high tide as well as a flock of Curlew.

Tack Piece

Grey Plover, 150+ Russian White-fronted Geese, 31 Redshank, 18 Ruff, c60 Black-tailed Godwit, ever changing numbers of Dunlin, Lapwing and Golden Plover.
