Migrant arrivals and Lapwing hatch young

Migration
A flock of 45 Bar-tailed Godwit arrived over high tide and dropped in with the Curlew, another group of 8 were seen nearby. Three each of Sanderling and Dunlin also made a brief appearance on the Severn. One Whimbrel accompanied the 16 Curlew on the Dumbles. A vert smart adult breeding plumage Little Gull appeared on the South Lake this morning and remained through the day, a Common Tern dropped in to roost among the Black-headed Gulls with a single 2cy Mediterranean Gull with them too. A Great White Egret (pictured) dropped in on the Dumbles for a time but moved off North. A male Whinchat was seen in fields North of the Tack Piece.
Rushy Hide
The Little-ringed Plovers continue to visit, display and scrape. 45+ Avocet include 8 that are now nesting. Small numbers of duck included single Wigeon and a male Garganey this morning.
Tack Piece
Scattered pairs or small groups of Wigeon, Teal, Shoveler and Mallard, two Lapwing were on the field with a single Redshank on the scrape.
Robbie Garnett/Willow Hide
Singing Goldcrest, Willow Warbler, Chiffchaff, Blackcap and Song Thrush in the hedge and withy bed.
South Lake
As already mentioned above, Common Tern, 2cy Mediterranean and a Little Gull joined the 10+ Avocets, single male Ruff and single Little-ringed Plover. Kingfisher was making regular fly-pasts carrying fish. Two Great Crested Grebe, 4 Little Grebe, 2 Cormorant and the busy gull colony on the Deep lake.
Zeiss Hide/Top New Piece
A Greenshank, 484 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Oystercatcher, 14 Avocet, nesting Cranes, small numbers of Teal and Shoveler but best of all was our first broods of Lapwing chicks for the year.
Kingfisher Hide
The Kingfisher pair were seen today so all seems well during their incubation period, due to hatch next weekend!
Three Ruff, 10+ Lapwing, a Green Sandpiper and two Roe Deer on the field/flood.
Some late news for yesterday
6 Yellow Wagtail on the Tack Piece plus singing Cuckoo and two singing Lesser Whitethroat.
