Latest Sightings
Calm condition with a light North Easterlies and a little early rain. Still no influx of Pink-footed Geese just 11 birds recorded today. As the week progresses the current forecast suggest the chance of a sizable influx at the end of the week.
After the early rain the raptors were present with 8 Common Buzzard, 2 Marsh Harrier, Merlin, 2 Kestrel, Sparrowhawk. Two Peregrine one adult and one juvenile, with the latter apparently took down a flying Greylag which escaped on the ground!
Waders included Greenshank flying and calling late afternoon, 500+ Lapwing, 24 Ruff, 7 Black-tailed Godwit, 10+ Snipe and 2 Ringed Plover.
Signs of migration with Meadow Pipit flying over calling, 200+ hirundine, mostly Swallow with a few House and Sand Martin feeding high over the reserve this morning.
Kingfisher present from the Ron Barker Hide and Nuthatch on feeders by the old Beaver Hide.
