South Lake Discovery Hide

Great birdwatching from here again. The Spoonbill is on its usual position on the fence. The Wader flock is very good 137 Black Tailed Godwit around 50 Redshank and two Ruff. There were three Green Sandpipers and 220 Lapwing. the Common Terns still have at least 1 young which has relocated to the island. A good scattering of Ducks including Teal and Shoveler. One Kingfisher here this morning but lots generally around the site so keep your eyes and ears open.

Rushy

A little more activity here today with no builders to disturb things. At least 5 Green Sandpipers, 4 Black Tailed Godwit and a single young Redshank.

Holden Tower and Hides along the walkway.

One Green Sandpiper and one Black tailed Godwit with around 50 Teal from the Robbie Garnett. A Whitethroat was showing well from the Knott hide. Lots of small waders (around 250) on the estuary including lots of Ringed Plover and Dunlin  but very low tides are unlikely to bring them any nearer. Two Greenshank on the estuary as well along with the usual Curlew. There are 20+ Yellow Wagtails among the cattle on the Dumbles but the herd needs to be near to see them.

Zeiss Hide and South Finger.

Dominated by 250 Teal and 12 Shoveler, few waders today just one Ruff and three Greed Sandpipers. A full grown Little Grebe from the Zeiss and a new family with two youngsters from the Kingfisher Hide.
