There’s Something Spooky Going on at Slimbridge this Halloween Half Term!

WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre is set for a tantalisingly terrifying Halloween, with a range of spooky activities to keep families entertained throughout October half term.

From Saturday 21 October to Sunday 29 October, staff and volunteers are inviting visitors to get ghoulish and gooey by carving their own pumpkin to welcome trick or treaters on the scariest night of them all. Later in the week there’ll be a choice between a beastly bat or ‘orrible owl lantern to decorate, to keep the ghosts at bay.

Also available week-long will be craft activities and creepy competitions. Activities free with admission include:

Pot Yuck – root around in grubby leaf litter and sticks in search of creepy crawlies

Pondering Poop – get up-close to proper poo and work out who it belongs to

Gruesome Battish Bake Off – create your most gruesome and disgusting cake recipe and draw a picture of what the finished mixed-up masterpiece would look like

Eyeball Bingo – peer into our squishy squashy jar of eyeballs and guess how many are staring back

Creepy Crafts – Make your own creepy creature to take home and decorate your house of horrors

“This Halloween we’re embracing the eerie with a whole range of new activities that are guaranteed to enchant our guests! All throughout the half term holiday, families can get creative in our classroom with pumpkin carving and lantern making, then take part in our fun and free activities; intended to inspire their spooky side. For those with a sense of adventure, our GIANT Top Trumps trail will be in its final week, the perfect way for families to explore the whole of Slimbridge and have fun with a classic game at the same time.”

To play Top Trumps, visitors can pick up a card and scoresheet on admission, then follow the trail of GIANT Top Trumps around the grounds, seeing who they can beat along the way.

One thing’s for sure, the Slimbridge Spooktacular is an event not to be missed this Halloween half term!

Pumpkin carving and lantern decorating are charged at £3.50 and £3 (admission not included), at varying times throughout the week (please see website for more details). All other activities, including Top Trumps are free with admission to WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre, for which visitors can save 10% by booking online in advance. Admission is completely free to WWT members and the under 4’s.
