Still counting Snipe

A slightly lower count of Snipe today from the Zeiss Hide with 129 birds seen, favouring the same areas of the shoreline and the reedbed in front of the hide.

Robbie Garnett Hide

Bewick’s Swans have been moving over from the Rushy all morning to spend the day grazing, preening and roosting with 51 birds present mid-morning.  Also on the Tack Piece were 1500+ Lapwing (including a leucistic bird), 36 Ruff, 18 Redshank, 2 Crane, 16 Pochard with several hundred Wigeon, Pintail and Teal.

Holden Tower

A Water Rail was seen running around the back of the pool outside the Knott Hide and two more birds were seen at the feeders at the Willow Hide.  The Red-breasted Goose was distant on the Dumbles with the Barnacle flock and 2 Cranes dropped in to feed.  A single Stonechat was on the fence at Mid Point and a Buzzard was sat on the perimeter fence of the Long Ground Pool.

Zeiss Hide

Along with the good number of Snipe were around 450 Lapwing and a similar number of Teal on the scrape.  The Wigeon flocks were split in to two chunks at either end of the hide and totaled 273 birds.
