Award winning canoe safari re-opens at WWT Martin Mere

On Saturday 23 March, WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is re-launching the award winning canoe safari and boat tour experience for the summer.

Over 12,000 canoes took to the water last year ensuring up to 40,000 people enjoyed the experience that allows you to get a close encounter with nature by offering a birds eye view of wetlands and the birds and insects that inhabit them.

Centre Manager, Andy Wooldridge, said: “Since the canoe safari opened in 2011 we have had a huge number of people enjoy it. I have seen children as young as 4 to adults up to the age of 85 strap on a buoyancy aid and have a go at canoeing.  Everyone comes off smiling and it is one of the best experiences that Martin Mere has to offer.”

You can hire the canoes for up to 1 hour and it seats 3 to 4 people. The cost to hire is £5 a canoe and there must be one adult over the age of 18 in each canoe. You do not need to book in advance, simply turn up on the day and go out in a canoe.
