Local group Learning Stars collaborates with WWT Martin Mere as part of the Dragonfly Festival

Learning Stars, a West Lancashire-based group supporting adults with learning disabilities, has collaborated with WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre to design two stunning hand drawn community flags for the launch of the centre’s brand new Dragonfly Festival.

Now proudly displayed near the site’s location for their daily dragonfly shows, which will run as part of the festival, the colourful flags bring the festival to life, setting the tone with a joyful, artistic flair.

Inspired by dragonflies, Learning Stars has gone on to do further crafts such as dragonfly bunting made from pipecleaners, which are on display in the family craft room, where families can enjoy a range of crafts such as badge making and colouring sheets.

Learning Stars offers weekly sessions in art, drama, gardening, and more, encouraging teamwork, creativity, and personal confidence through fun, inclusive activities led by volunteers and tutors. Their work with Martin Mere showcases how meaningful community engagement can empower individuals.

Visitors can come and see the flags in person alongside taking part in fun family activities such as throwing competitions, GIANT dragonfly trails, creative workshops and more. For the full festival line-up, visit the festival hub page.
