Hide closure: Sunday 9 November

No access to Ron Barker, Hale and Mere View Hides
Unfortunately, we have had a recent case of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, in our collection birds. To prevent further spread of the disease, we are putting in place some additional protection measures, which includes testing the birds in our duckery. To allow our teams the time and space to do this, we’ve temporarily closed this part of the wetland reserve and will reopen on Monday 10 November.

Meet our new Office Manager

Hi I am the new Office Manager while Belinda is on Maternity leave. My name is Lucy Copeland and previous to this role I was the receptionist at the centre.

In all I have worked at Martin Mere for about 7 years, starting as a casual in the cafe. I have really enjoyed working for the Trust and that’s really why I have been here so long! It’s an amazing place to work and every day is different, I could be doing anything from paper work to telling people how to care for a duckling!

Here are a few questions Andy has asked, so you can find out a bit more about me:

What would be your ideal holiday or day out?

Anywhere hot and sunny! Or a day out would be to visit a zoo or somewhere with my nephews.

What three things would you take to a dessert island?

1) Bug spray because I don’t like bugs in any shape or form!!

2) I-pod to keep me entertained!!

3) Suntan Lotion as I burn easily

What is your favourite wetland animal or bird?

Red breasted Goose, I think they are amazing and I love their short beaks!!
