Hide closure: Sunday 9 November

No access to Ron Barker, Hale and Mere View Hides
Unfortunately, we have had a recent case of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, in our collection birds. To prevent further spread of the disease, we are putting in place some additional protection measures, which includes testing the birds in our duckery. To allow our teams the time and space to do this, we’ve temporarily closed this part of the wetland reserve and will reopen on Monday 10 November.

We're going on a Wild Walk

Explore a hidden gem of wetland habitat at Martin Mere with the opening of Wild Walk this summer.

The experience will take you on a journey through three types of wetland habitat, providing a ‘taste’ of our wild reserves, which are traditionally only accessed via viewpoints in hides. Meander through the muddy meadow, cross the wobbly web bridge to the wet woods and get lost in a reedy ramble, discovering wildlife and giant sculptures. You are encouraged to bring your wellies and get muddy!

Work is well underway with the construction of the middle maze lodge, installation of a giant nest and creation of brash hedges by our corporate team building groups.

Keep an eye on the ‘diary’ pages over the next couple of months for Wild Walk updates...
