Black-tailed Godwits
Big influx of Black-tailed Godwit in the past couple of days, perhaps resulting from some of the coastal summering sites drying out? Around 500 birds present today.
Lapwing numbers are building up with post breeding birds arriving. Other waders include Avocet (many with chicks), Oystercatchers, Redshanks, Little Ringed Plovers and Ruff.
The inner and outer Reed Bed Walks are the spot for catching up with Cuckoo(s) and many dragonfly/butterfly species on the wing including Painted Lady, Red Admiral, Common Blue, Black-tailed Skimmer and Emperor, also a Grasshopper Warbler was heard.
Great-crested Grebes and Little Grebes have chicks, viewable from the Harrier Hide.
Raptor have included Hobby, 3+ Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and 2 Sparrowhawk.
A small influx of Teal recently. Many of the wildfowl present are starting to show signs of eclipse plumage. Gadwall have been seen with chicks, also many Shelduck now hatching out.
