Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

The hobby has been seen yet again at Ron Barker hide, as well as the occasional bittern. Also from Ron Barker, a flock of 22 black-tailed godwits have been sighted, along with 3 little egrets, 75 teal, and 10 little ringed plover. Some avocets and common terns can be seen on the back of the mere, most clearly seen from Discovery hide. A hen harrier was also spotted flying over the mere this week.

At the canoe safari this week some fledged kingfishers have been seen! They only left their nest this week so there is still a good chance to see them around. A female garganey, 3 marsh harriers, 4 cattle egrets, a wood sandpiper, 5 green sandpipers, and a common sandpiper have all been spotted at Gordon Taylor hide.
