Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

A young tawny owl can be seen exploring in the trees along the trail to Ron Barker hide while it grows its adult feathers; there is a new sign up on the path so you can see where to look for it. A common sandpiper has been seen at Discovery hide, where 4 ringed plovers are also visible from the back of the mere.

A pair of bullfinches was seen on the feeders at Janet Kear hide alongside the usual goldfinches, blue tits, and great tits. 5 green sandpipers can still be seen from Rees hide, and 7 black-tailed godwits can also bee seen in woodend marsh, along with our first bar-tailed godwit of the year. Our cows in long meadow are accompanied by 11 cattle egrets and 2 large kestrel chicks.
