We're closed on Saturday 4 October

Due to the forecast of gales throughout the day on Saturday 4 October, the site will be closed to keep our visitors and team safe. This means that the late night geese evening will not take place. We aim to reopen at 9.30am on Sunday 5 October. The canoe safari and boat tours will remain closed on Sunday 5 October. If there is any further disruption to the site we will update this message on Sunday morning. If you have tickets booked, you can use them on any other day. Stay safe everyone.

The pair of juvenile Glossy Ibis have been showing well this weekend, often landing on the islands on the Mere to preen. We have also had an influx of 70+ Pintail on the mere as they come to join us from Northern Europe, Asia and North America for the winter. 1 Peregrine was sighted flying among the 100+ Lapwings, look closely when the Lapwings are flushed and you might spot it!

Over at Ron Barker 7 Whooper swans were spotted with more to come soon. A Sparrowhawk has been putting on a show for the photographers too. Alongside this 1 Great White Egret, 2 Stonechat and 3 Little Grebe were all showing well at Ron Barker. 

We have had 28 Ruff which are viewable from the Harrier Hide along with 270 Teal. On the outer reserve there have been 40+ Cattle Egret among the cows, which have now been moved to Woodend Marsh so the egrets will be viewable from Rees Hide, Tomlinson and Gordon Taylor. Also, in Woodend a charm of 60 Goldfinch were showing feeding on the seed.
