On a great dry birdwatching day after all the rain we have had, the Bittern has been seen flying across the reedbed from the Rees and United Utilities hides and then across to the Mere View Hide this morning.

Snipe are showing well from the 1st screen looking out on the Mere.

On the Mere we have Whooper Swans, Pink-footed Geese, Greylag Geese, Pochard, Shovelers, Teal, Shelducks, Cormorant, Lapwing, and Tufted Ducks in good numbers.

At the Ron Barker Hide Stonechats, Marsh Harrier, Great White Egret, Cetti's Warbler, Long-tailed tits, Buzzard and Water Rail are often to be seen. The Cattle Egrets can be spotted around our English Longhorn Cattle.

You can see our Whooper Swans, Shelduck and Geese up close at our 3pm feed in front of the Discovery Hide and 3.30pm at the Raines Observatory.
