Latest Sightings

We have many of our regular visitors this week for World Wetlands Day. The Ring-Necked Duck continues to show well from the Discovery Hide, often feeding on the seed once the flurry of birds at the feed has settled down. Our wonderful Whooper Swans continue to make their appearance on the Mere too. 38 Oystercatchers and 40 Black-Tailed Godwits were counted over the weekend, these can also be seen from Discovery Hide

Across the site, Lapwings can be seen darting in the sky and Pink-Footed Geese can regularly be heard or seen in the fields as they prepare themselves for their flight back to Greenland. Barn Owls have also been sighted from Tomlinson Hide and Ron Barker Hide. A variety of birds can be seen from Rees Hide, including Teal, Shovelers and Wigeon. This is also where the Glossy Ibis was last seen on Friday.

On the Reedbed Walk a Kingfisher was seen darting about and Water Rails can regularly be heard. Over at Ron Barker Hide, 2 Treecreepers were seen by the feeders and a Little Grebe was spotted diving in the stream.
