Latest Sightings

Overcast with low cloud turning very windy for the time of year on Wednesday. Interesting to note that the low cloud cover on Tuesday produced a small fall of passerine locally. On the reserve a Willow Warbler in the tit flock was probably part of that fall.

At least 3 Green Sandpiper present and possibly more although three were seen together from the Kingfisher Hide. Other waders included 400+ Lapwing, 100+ Black-tailed Godwit, 7 Ruff, Common Sandpiper, 4+ Snipe, a few Dunlin and Little Ringed Plover.

Five species of raptor with Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel all represented.

Two Kingfisher from the Ron Barker Hide.

Four Little Grebe, Great-crested Grebe and Little Egret in front of the Harrier Hide.

If you are visiting the reserve we have a full list of the birds at the in focus shop and we should be able to point you in the right direction to get the best out of your visit.
