Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

A quality day out on the reserve, calm winds and good visibility. Raptors in action included 2 near adult male Marsh Harriers, Merlin, Peregrine , 4+ Common Buzzard, 2 Kestrel and 2 Sparrowhawk. Barn Owl hunting from 4.15pm.

Two Bean Geese showed well from the United Utilities Hide with ~ 2000 Pink-footed Geese from early afternoon. Around 3800 Pink-footed Geese were roosting on the reserve this morning. Still 1000+ Whooper Swan to be seen. Great to see displaying, Teal, Pintail and Wigeon around the reserve too.

Waders included 14 Golden Plover, 7 Avocet, 30+ Black-tailed Godwit, 64 Oystercatcher, Dunlin, Curlew, 4+ Ringed Plover and over 1000 Lapwing.
