Thursday 11 and Friday 12 December

Some of our birds will be off display on Thursday 11 and Friday 12 December, while vets carry out some routine health checks. If you would still like to visit us on these days, admission tickets will only be available on arrival and will be reduced to £10 an adult and £5 a child.

Sightings

A new pair of Common Tern were busy trying to find a spot to nest, even checking out the new Tern raft in front of In Focus before before chased off by the nesting Black-headed Gull. At least 2-3 Little Egret continue to be seen most days, a Barn Owl was seen on the west edge of the reserve mid morning.

A Cuckoo was seen from the Canoe Safari this morning, also the usual Kingfisher was seen at UU Hide and Great Spotted Woodpecker at Janet Kear feeding station.

A female Ruff was from Ron Barker Hide and 45 Black-tailed Godwits also from here, but no sign of the Little Gull today.

Just offsite 2-3 Yellow Wagtail down Curlew Lane this morning as well as Little Owl, Red-legged Partridge and Corn Bunting.

Brimstone and Speckled Wood Butterflies reported on site today as well as Four-spotted Chaser Dragonfly and 3 species of Damselfly, Azure, Common Blue and Blue-tailed.
