Hide closure: Sunday 9 November

No access to Ron Barker, Hale and Mere View Hides
Unfortunately, we have had a recent case of avian influenza, commonly known as bird flu, in our collection birds. To prevent further spread of the disease, we are putting in place some additional protection measures, which includes testing the birds in our duckery. To allow our teams the time and space to do this, we’ve temporarily closed this part of the wetland reserve and will reopen on Monday 10 November.

Still no Black Terns !!

Still no Black Terns (see yesterday's post), but they are getting closer, with one only a couple of miles away at Mere Sands today!

On the reserve, still 2 Knot from the United Utilities hide along with a single Dunlin and at least 2 Common Terns. Also 2 Marsh Harriers seen from both United Utilities and Harrier hides. A Whimbrel and Little Gull were seen from the Ron Barker hide, where Red-legged Partridges were showing particularly well today.
