Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

Waders fest continues

Little Stint present this afternoon from the Ron Barker Hide. A minimum of 3 Curlew Sandpiper around the reserve probably 5. Four Greenshank flew in mid morning onto the Mere before heading towards Woodend Marsh. Other waders included 7 Dunlin, 2 Ringed Plover, 20+ Snipe, 20+ Ruff, Green Sandpiper and 500+ Lapwing.

At least 3 Marsh Harrier, 3 (2 adult and 1 juv) Peregrine, 3+ Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.

Migrant passerines included Wheatear and Stonechat out on fencing near Plover Field.

Approximately 150 Pink-footed Geese this morning. Kingfisher from the Ron Barker Hide.

Just down the road the Buff-breasted Sandpiper was still present at Hesketh Out Marsh RSPB.
