Experience WWT Slimbridge through sound with The Cotswold Listener
Take an accessible audio tour of the site with Grounds Manager Chris Rixton.
We were recently joined by Margaret and June of The Cotswold Listener, which is a free local talking newspaper for the sight impaired living in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, and the North Cotswolds.
Their amazing aim is to help those who can no longer access the written word due to a disability stay in touch with what is happening locally, and to stay aware of the issues that interest them, enabling them to live their lives more independently.
At WWT Slimbridge we believe that nature should be accessible to all, so we're delighted to be involved in this incredible initiative.
Margaret and June were shown around the site by Grounds Manager Chris Rixton, who offers an in depth insight into our history, our wildlife, and the development of our landscape. Enjoy a mindful moment listening out for a wide variety of birdsong in the background as they tour the grounds too!
The stories told by Chris, Margaret, and June are an enjoyable listen for all, and really encourage connecting with nature through senses other than sight.
Take the beautifully descriptive audio tour here, and please share to support The Cotswold Listener's vital work: www.cotswoldlistener.co.uk/wwt-slimbridge/
If you'd like to immerse yourself in the wetland soundscape, why not book onto one of our Birdsong Mornings in May? You'll spend time with one of our expert reserve wardens who will help you to identify the birds you hear, like warblers claiming territory and cuckoos calling.
It'll be well worth the early start!
