Still windy
You can't have failed to notice the wind and rain this week, and whilst it has not blown anything unusual in yet we have seen our Black-tailed Godwit flock increase in size and colour! We're also seeing a number of Mediterranean Gulls this week.

Lapwings ignore the wind and rain

Knot arrival
South LakeOur first nine Red Knot of 2019 appeared among the roosting waders today, their visit coinciding with the strong winds and high tide period. The South Lake wader scrape offered some respite from the westerlies and a large flock of 495 Black-tail

Still have our White-fronts
Having seen numbers drop over the last few days the flock of White-fronted Geese was back up to 151 birds this morning, and they were joined by some more unusual visitors.

Waiting patiently
The female Kingfisher was sat at the nest bank this morning, awaiting the arrival of the male. There is also lots of Kingfisher activity around the South Lake this week with at least one bird making regular flypasts of the Discovery Hide.

At first we thought all the remaining Bewick's Swans had left overnight, but then one dropped in to the Tack Piece just before 9:30am

Glossy Ibis reported
A Glossy Ibis was reported and photographed from the Hogarth Hide this afternoon but wasn't present at 4.15pm. Hopefully it will decided to spend some time on the reserve and make the most of the warm sunshine and calm conditions.Rushy HideOnly 16 Bewick'
