Café kitchen closure

From 8–17 September, our café kitchen will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, our front-of-house will remain open, offering a selection of cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, and drinks. You will also be able to visit our kiosks by the play areas.

Cuckoo

First Cuckoo of the year showing well on fence posts next to the United Utilities for most of the afternoon. Great to see this increasingly rare summer migrant. This species puts our year list on 145.

First Cuckoo of the year at WWT Martin Mere

Waders included 2 Ruff, 2 Common Sandpiper, 6 Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Dunlin, 46 Avocet, 2 Curlew and Little Ringed Plover. Four Lapwing chicks on Woodend Marsh.

An 1st Summer Med Gull on the Mere late afternoon. Yellow Wagtail, Wheatear, Little Egret and Raven.

Also notable 300+ Swift, 200+ Swallow and 60+  House Martin.
