A whole new world of discovery awaits you. Escape the everyday and discover peaceful wetland treasures and secluded spots.

Head to the reedbed walk, accessible from the Harrier hide, for an immersive journey through wetland nature and discover some secretive and rare species. Listen and look out for Cetti’s and Grasshopper warblers, water rails, bitterns and bearded tits as well as Marsh Harriers and Crested Grebes.

The reedbed walk is also home to our newest hide, the Gordon Taylor hide, with spectacular, up close views of large flocks of pink footed geese and other wintering wildlife such as whooper swans, teal, pintail and wigeon. But it’s not just birds that this hide will give you great views of. There are also regular sightings on the reserve of beautiful roe deer, otters and stoat. It truly is one of Martin Mere’s best kept secrets (don’t tell anyone!).

You can’t beat the sweet-scented peace of our beautiful gardens, whether it is relaxing in the eco-garden spotting butterflies, contemplating in the Royal Bank of Canada Show garden (as seen at RHS Chelsea 2017) or strolling amongst beautiful wildflowers, reeds and grasses in Wild walk – you may even find critters in the world’s largest bug hotel or come across sky seats to melt into.
